Crusades, 01/3/2004

The belief that there is no god is a creed just like the belief that there is a god. Mr. R., a  zealot for the first, scrutinizes the eye of Christianity , but never looks into the eye of atheistic Judeo-communism.  His scrutiny starts way back in history  with the Crusades. In 1070 AD the Seljuk Turks  had conquered Jerusalem and had brought the alum mines of the Middle East under their control ending the lucrative trade of the Northern Italian cities with that commodity. There were a number of motives for the Crusades, one defensive, namely coming to the aid of a  besieged  “Kingdom of the Greeks” (the Byzantine empire), the main one however was greed, greed for territory and alum. But since “Let’s get the alum!” would never have done as a battle cry a religious one was used as a camouflage “Dieu li volt – God wills it;” God wants to see the holy places freed from the infidels. The religious fervor stoked by greed was brought to a fever pitch  with atrocity propaganda. In 2003 a new crusade took place, the invasion and occupation of Iraq.  There were a number of motives for this crusade, but the main one was greed. Greed for oil. But since “Let’s get the oil! ”  would never have done as a battle cry  “Ridding the world of weapons of mass destruction!”  was used as a camouflage. In the meanwhile this slogan had to be  changed since no weapons of mass destruction were found. The new slogan is  “Liberating Iraq of evil Saddam!”  The war fervor stoked by greed was brought to a fever pitch with atrocity propaganda. To Mr. R. I have this to say: The coward fights the injustices of the past. The brave fights the injustices of the present.
